While making fine wine calls for great expertise, the art of savoring it is just as essential, requiring a mastery and fluidity of movement to elevate the tasting experience to new heights. With these ideas in mind, L’Atelier du Vin has created a custom version of its iconic sommelier knife for the prestigious Burgundy winemaker Albert Bichot.
An alliance of craftsmanship and winemaking tradition

Inspired by our sommelier knife the Soft Machine Blade – Le Pierre, this personalized corkscrew is so much more than a simple tool. It is a veritable work of art, fully imbued with respect for winemaking tradition and craftsmanship. L’Atelier du Vin, renowned for its unrivaled expertise in the creation of wine accessories, has handcrafted each piece with exceptional quality and a refined finish.
Each corkscrew is a unique piece crafted from the barrel staves of the 2020 Mazis-Chambertin Cuvée Madeleine Collignon from the Domaine des Hospices de Beaune with solid wood facets cut and fitted by our expert craftsmen.
This collaboration celebrates Burgundy’s inimitable art de vivre and the loyalty shown by Maison Albert Bichot to the renowned auctions of the Hospices de Beaune – with the winemaker ranking as the top buyer for the past thirty years. Thanks to generous donors, the Hospices de Beaune have been able to acquire a prestigious 60-hectare winegrowing estate with 48 cuvées that have been auctioned for the benefit of the Hospices de Beaune and other charities for over 150 years. The Albert Bichot family house made its first purchase here as far back as 1876.
An objet d’art that captures the essence of Burgundy
This exclusive corkscrew is truly rooted in the terroir of Burgundy. Its oak handle possesses subtle variations in color that make each piece fully unique, while the smart design of the built-in blade and corkscrew cutter offers optimal functionality. The innovative mechanism developed by L’Atelier du Vin lets you extract the cork effortlessly in a single movement, offering uncorking that couldn’t be safer or more elegant – all without twisting the cork or unsettling the bottle’s precious nectar.

L’Atelier du Vin and Albert Bichot share a passion for fine wine and craftsmanship. With 107 hectares of vines on six prestigious Burgundy estates, Maison Albert Bichot is a true representative of fine terroir wines. Headed by Albéric Bichot since 1996, the winemaking estate is resolutely focused on a forward-looking vision, as highlighted with the transition of its Domaines to organic farming several years ago. Likewise, every accessory produced by L’Atelier du Vin combines innovative research with deep respect for winegrowing traditions – for an elevated tasting experience like no other.
This exceptional sommelier knife is the perfect illustration of how inseparable the art of tasting is from the culture and heritage of Burgundy.
